Once an empire, the Khmers created the largest pre-industrial water management system in the world. A web of artificial canals diverted water from the sacred Phnom Kulen. The system allowed for multiple rice harvests per year - earning its reputation as "The Rice Bowl of Asia".
The Khmer Empire was one of history's most sophisticated civilizations, achieving unmatched agricultural development, engineering, and architectural legacy. The stone temples stand as proof of an empire built upon vision and great vision exemplifies great taste.
